Artist Statement

In my art I let large format photographyconverge with installation and scenography. The photographic motifs consists ofdistorted environments which I design and construct for the camera, where thecentral themes are perception of nature and the everyday, uncommon spectaclesand the collision between real and staged environments. The main area ofinvestigation is human perception and definitions of physical space. Throughenvironmental distortions I explore how we define a surrounding as normal, natural and authentic. Using photography as an instrument I investigate the psychologyconnected to ambiguity and the circumstances under which we doubt anenvironment and its contents, or categorize it as strange or incomprehensible.I take interest in appearances of common space, the illusory and knowledge oftruth. Through scenes bordering between the absurd and the realistic I want togenerate hesitation and questions about credibility of the motif, challenge theordinary and general definitions of everyday surroundings, and investigate ourability to let go of logical thinking concerning images.
